This 2.5 mile-long paved path runs along the Androscoggin River between Grover Lane and Water Street. A bicycle lane over the Merrymeeting Bridge links the towns of Brunswick and Topsham. Although the path provides an alternative route for cyclists between Brunswick and Bath, it also is a well-landscaped park with trees, strategically placed granite benches, toilet facilities and designated lanes for cyclists and pedestrians.

This privately owned conservation area in Phippsburg provides a pleasant 20-minute walk along a partially paved road to Morse Mountain. The top of the small hill provides beautiful vistas of the ocean and surrounding marshlands.. The hike can then be continued for another 20 minutes down to secluded Sewall Beach with plenty of shoreline for walking and relaxing. Directions from Brunswick: Take Route 1 North to the Bath High Street exit. Follow route 209 south for 11.1 miles. Route 209 will turn left, but continue straight on Route 216 for .9 miles. Parking will be found on the left at Morse Mountain Road. No dogs are allowed.

Bowdoin College has established a ½ mile nature trail in this 33-acre site that is adjacent to the corner of Federal Street and the Bath Road. The trail can be reached by parking on Federal Street by the Cram Alumni House and walking down the service entrance road to the Bowdoin Pines Trail sign. Maps are available in a box at this point. These maps also provide a listing of plant and animal life that can be found in the area.

This 440-acre park in Pownal has eight miles of hiking and cross-country ski trails. Mountain biking is allowed on 6.5 miles of the trail system. The summit is 485 feet above sea level and provides great views to Casco Bay and the White Mountains. There is an admission fee of $ 3.00/adult and $1.00 for children ages 5-11. Children under 5 and adults over 65 are admitted for free. Picnic areas are provided. Directions: The park is located on Route 9 about halfway between Portland and Lewiston-Auburn. It is 5 miles from the Freeport-Durham exist off of U.S. 95.

This woodland area is the southwestern section of the thousand acre "commonage" granted by the Pejepscot Proprietors in 1719. It is overseen by the Town Commons Planning Committee.

The 2.5 mile trail system in this 162-acre preserve in Topsham is owned and maintained by the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust. The trails are designed for hiking and cross-country skiing. Snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, mountain bikes and pets are not permitted. Directions: The preserve is located at the end of Bradley Pond Road which intersects Route 201 just less than four miles north of the intersection of Route 201 and 196 in Topsham. Park only in designated parking areas. No pets are allowed.

This 11-acre preserve owned and maintained by the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust lies adjacent to Merriconeag between Middle Bay Cove and Harpswell Cove. Foot traffic should be avoided along the western edge of the property that abuts the salt marsh rimming Middle Bay Cove The nature trails are marked with blue blazes and markers on trees. Directions: The preserve is located on the west side of Route 123 (Harpswell Road), 1.1 mile south of Middle Bay Road. It is identified by a small wooden sign, set back from the road near the modest parking area. Look for a drainage culvert and a narrow gravelled turnoff.

These trails are located on the 160-acre farm owned and maintained by the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust. The 2.5 mile trail winds through the Farm's forests, fields and blueberry barren. The trail system is located at Crystal Spring Farm on Pleasant Hill Road in Brunswick. Proceed south on Maine Street past Bowdoin College and Parkview Hospital. Turn right on Pleasant Hill Road and travel approximately 1 mile to parking on the left. Maps can be found in a mailbox at the trailhead.

This 103-acre parcel consists of wooded hills, rocky ledges and areas of wetland. It has been purchased with the intent to provide low-impact, trail recreation for Brunswick citizens...At approximately 350 feet, the Pinnacle is the highest point of land in Brunswick, and boasts a view of the White Mountains. Old logging and farming roads provide access to the pinnacle, as well as other peaceful stopping points. These trails have been used for walking, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing and horseback riding. They will also be suitable for mountain bike use.

This preserve in West Bath is managed by the Maine Audubon Society. It has 1 « miles of trails that run through open meadows and forest along a peninsula in the New Meadows River. Spurs to a freshwater marsh provide vistas of Back Cove. Directions: Take the New Meadows exit off of Route 1, left onto New Meadows Road, which turns into Foster Point Road after the stop sign. Follow four miles to the sanctuary sign.

This Maine Audubon Society sanctuary in Georgetown has two miles of nature walks through a 119-acre preserve that is bounded by a salt marsh. The trails wind through a marsh and secluded woods along exposed ledges, ocean inlets, and a pond. Directions: From the junction of U.S. Route 1 and Route 127 in Woolwich just east of the Woolwich-Bath bridge, head south on Route 127 for 9.1 miles to Georgetown. Turn right at the sanctuary sign and follow the entrance road to the parking lot.

This sanctuary in Freeport is managed by the Maine Audubon Society. It has 3.5 miles of marked trails leading through 100 acres of apple orchards, woods and meadows. Directions from Brunswick: Follow Flying Point Road south and turn right onto Upper Mast Landing Road.

There are more than 3300 feet of prepared walking paths through the forested wetlands areas between the hospital and the protected estuary and salt water marshes of Thompson's Brook. Turn onto Medical Center Drive from the Old Bath Road. Trail entrances can be found at the far end of the parking lot. Maps can be obtained at the hospital information desk.
